Crafty

I love giving people homemade gifts. Even better, I love giving people homemade gifts not made by me.

Welcome to craft sale season. My favorite thing about the holidays.

A friend is involved in organizing a new craft show on November 14th in the Glebe. If you are a craft show lover like me you should definitely add it to your list. Another friend will also be selling some of her lovely creations there.

I am going to be on the lookout for little gifts for the teachers at the girl's preschool. At the end of school last year I gave them all tote bags. Everyone needs a tote bag, right? I have no ideas for Christmas gifts but I would like something useful or cute. Useful and cute would be even better.

Hope to see you at Craftalicious.

  1. Last year I made tea wallets for my tea-loving friends. They're such cute gifts and for those of us drinking decaf (or any other favourite tea), it saves a lot of hassle at restaurants and friends' houses if you just have your own tea there and ready in your handbag! These would make great teacher gifts!

I saw them on Etsy first, and made my own. They're not very difficult if you are have basic sewing skills (I just made a paper pattern first using a packaged tea bag as a template).

Here's a cute one, for example!

  2. I remember one year that I attempted to make homemade gifts for everyone - it was such a bust that I went and purchased gifts too. I'm such a dork.

Have fun at the show, that much talent in one area intimidates me ;)

  3. Hey Brie
    Thanks for posting.

I'll be selling some fabric covered buttons made into magnets and pushpins - great for jazzing up a bulletin board. Might be good teacher gifts. Love the tea wallet idea too! Maybe I'll make some for next year's sale. I have so many ideas for next year
    s sale. I think I'll start sewing Jan 1!

  7. And if that's not enough to draw you to the Glebe this weekend, there's also the annual Fall Craft and Artisan Fair at the Glebe Community Centre a short walk away (where, incidentally, my photography is featured for the month of November - turn left into the small room beside the main entrance). Two good shows in one day and I plan to hit them both!
